Services for Faculty
Each full-time UB Law School faculty member is assigned a library liaison to support research and teaching needs and to answer any additional questions about our collection or services. Please contact John Beatty or Amanda McCormick or asklaw@buffalo.edu with any questions or requests.
The Law Library also provides services for Law School adjunct faculty members. Adjunct faculty are encouraged to contact Amanda McCormick with questions.
Reference and Research Services
Instruction and Classroom Support
- Guest Lecturer: Law librarians may be asked to visit class to provide a guest lecture on a specific topic or to introduce students to a database.
- Course Research Guide: Law librarians can create a research guide to support a specific course that points students to relevant resources. An Example: International Environmental Law
- Course Reserve: Law faculty may request materials be placed on reserve through the Law Library. You may use the Electronic Submission Form or contact John Mondo.
- Course Materials: Please contact Christine Riggi with questions about e-textbooks and Brian Detweiler with questions about all other books (e-books and physical).
- Legal Technologies: Law faculty are encouraged to consult with Latasha Towles, our Law Practice Technologist, for questions related to the use of legal tech.
Research Support
- Students working as faculty research assistants must attend a research training session with a law librarian. Additionally, research assistants should feel free to contact your liaison law librarian with any future questions or training requests.
- Law librarians are happy to assist with identifying and locating materials to support your research and teaching.
- For assistance in setting up alert services with databases such as Lexis, Westlaw, Law.com, and HeinOnline, please contact your liaison librarian.
Scholarship and Scholarly Impact
Law School Repository: Digital Commons @ University at Buffalo School of Law
- The Law Library collects the faculty's scholarship and makes as much of it as possible available for free download.
- We encourage you to send information on your upcoming articles and copies of your author agreements to John Beatty.
- Please also send post-prints and final versions for posting to the repository when they are available.
- Please contact John Beatty with any additional questions.
SSRN
- The Law Library can assist with posting abstracts and pre-prints to SSRN. Send the abstract, pre-print, and any desired keywords or e-journals to ub-legalstudiespapers@buffalo.edu.
