MARC Holdings (MHLD)
- Creating MARC holdings record
- Display Copy Holdings record. Type chld (create holdings) hit <ENTER>
Default is copy 1. To create a MARC Holdings record for a copy other than copy 1, type chld <copy number>. - New MARC holdings screen appears. Update the following fixed fields:
- E/L = 4
- R/Stat (Receipt status)
- 2 = Completed
- 4 = Currently rec'd
- 5 = Not currently rec'd (ceased or cancelled)
- MTHD (Method of Acq.)
- d = Depository
- g = Gift
- p = Purchase
- u = Unknown
- DT/CAN (Intent to cancel date) = leave blank
- G/RTN (Beneral retention policy)
- 4 = Retained until replaced by microform
- 5 = Retained until replacement by cumulative or replacement volumes or revision
- 6 = Retained for a limited period
- 7 = Not retained
- 8 = Permanently retained
- S/RTN (Specific retention policy) Used only in conjunction with value "6" in General retention policy
- First position
- l = latest
- p = previous
- Second position
- Numerals 1-9
- Third position
- m = Month(s)
- w = Week(s)
- y = Year(s)
- e = Edition(s) Use when in doubt vs. year
- i = Issue(s)
- s = Supplement(s)
- CMPLT (Completeness) = 0 (zero)
- LEND (Lending policy) = u
- REPOL (Reproduction policy) = u
- LAN (Language) This is the language used for the piece designator only, not the language of the text.
- Regular holdings. Tab to the blank area at bottom of fixed fields.
- 866 is the tag for textual holdings.
866:41:|80|av.1-v.10 - 867 is the tag for supplements.
867:41:|80|a2006 - 868 is the tag for indexes.
868:41:|80|12006 - Deleting MARC holdings
- Tab to STAT and enter d <return>
Example: The S/RTN for a title where the latest year only is kept would be coded as: l1y
Example: Bd. is the German abbreviation for "volume", so LAN would be coded ger
