DNC (Does Not Circulate)

If a title is designated DNC, it means that the piece(s) linked to that title are stamped DOES NOT CIRCULATE and they may not leave the Law Library.

  1. To determine which piece(s) should be DNC:
    1. See the "Special stamp" column of the End Processing Guide for the locations and call numbers designated as DNC. These categories are: loose-leaf services, statutes, codes, code commentaries, administrative regulations, court and administrative reports, legislative documents, including bills, and administrative documents.
    2. Additionally, titles designated as such by a reference librarian or the Head of Circulation will be DNC, as will loose-leaf titles with more than one piece.
  2. Once DNC status has been determined:
    1. In BISON online catalog:
      1. Copy holdings record:
        1. Make location code = la,n
        2. Add [DNC (initials,month/year)] in note field below location code
      2. O/P/R (order/pay/receipt) record:
        1. Add [DNC] after call number in NOTE field
    2. On flag:
      1. Write DNC on flag below call number.
