Film and Video Distributors

The following links are suggestions for faculty to investigate for possible film and video titles that they will be able to use in their lectures.

Ambrose Video

A leading producer of videotapes and multimedia materials for education and libraries. They have a library of over 1,000 titles that feature award-winning materials, in social studies, literature and the sciences. The core of there collection is broadcast quality productions from the BBC, public broadcasting, HBO and assorted independent producers. The titles range from the BBC Shakespeare Plays, Public TV's Legacy to Discovery's Connection series.

America's Defense Monitor

Presents a balance of facts and commentary in a lively and highly visual style. Their episodes feature interviews with key experts, policy makers, and community leaders enhanced by vivid footage and informative graphics.

American Social History Project

The American Social History Project/Center for Media and Learning aims to revitalize interest in history by challenging the traditional ways that people learn about the past.

Bullfrog Films

Contains videos on environmental matters, as well as, videos on ethics and women's studies.

California Newsreel

Educational videos on African American life and history, cinema, labor studies, etc.

Cinema Guild

A collection of more than 500 titles dealing with health, science, social studies, world cultures, the arts and humanities, etc.

Direct Cinema Limited

Created in 1974 to serve independent filmmakers. Their films have won 54 Academy Award nominations and 15 Oscars -- more than any other collection of short films and documentaries in the world. They offer a variety of titles in several areas

Discovery Channel Video

Examine videos ranging from science and technology to wings and military

Documentary Educational Resources

Produces, distributes and promotes quality ethnographic and documentary films from around the world. They were founded in 1968 by independent filmmakers whose collaborations reflect a lifetime of engagement and respect for their subjects. Documentary Educational Resources' films foster cross-cultural understanding through educational video and film.

National Film Preservation Foundation

A non-profit organization created by the U.S. Congress to help save America's film heritage. They support activities nationwide that preserve American films and improve film access for study, education, and exhibition.

National Institute for Trial Advocacy

A Premier provider of trial skills training seminars and litigation-related publications and materials
