Obtaining and Activating Your E-Mail Account

The procedure for activating your UB E-mail Account:

1. Get your UB Card from the UB Card Office in The Commons.
2. To determine what UBITName has been assigned to you, use one of the UB SUNY card swipe machines at the Cybrary in either Lockwood Library or at the UGL Library in Capen Hall.
3. The printout from the swipe machine will list your UBITName and default password.
4. To enable your e-mail, go to the EMAIL @ UB page at http://ubit.buffalo.edu/mail/ Please note that reference to UBITName refers to the characters preceding the @ sign.
5. Your default password is structured as the month, date of your birthday, and the last six digits of your UB card number. For instance: born on September 7th = 0907 [last six digits from UB card number]. Your UB card number is located below your photograph.
6. To change your default password, go to the UBITName: How do I change my password? page at http://ubit.buffalo.edu/ubitname/changepw.php
7. Please note that your password should be a combination of letters and numbers.
