Welcome to the Charles B. Sears Law Library at the State University of New York at Buffalo. We provide a wide variety of services to facilitate the research and teaching interests of all of our users. We are unable to provide legal advice.
Services for Visitors
- Research Assistance
Reference Librarians will help users find legal information but they cannot provide legal advice.
- Library Research Computers
Visitors may use our computers to access library resources and the Internet by registering at the Circulation Desk for a Library Research Station Access Card.
Library research computers are located on floors 2, 4, and 6. Word processing is not available.
- Guests Access to UB Wireless Network
Guests to the University may connect to the University Wi-Fi. For information see: http://www.buffalo.edu/ubit/service-guides/getting-connected/access-to-the-ub-network.html
- Members of the Bar
Attorneys may register for a Courtesy Borrowers card. This privilege is limited to the generally circulating colleciton at the Law Library only. This card also provides access to library research computers.
- Public Printing (iPrint)
iprint@ub is the print management system at the University at Buffalo that allows non-UB library guests to pay for print jobs with a Print/Copy Card at a Print Release Pay Station.

The University Libraries attempt to accommodate the information needs of all users.
Services for Friends & Alumni
- Friends of the UB Libraries
Membership in the Friends of the University Libraries Program is open to anyone interested in borrowing privileges at the University at Buffalo Libraries.
- UB Alumni
All current members of the UB Alumni Association can obtain library privileges.
- Law School Alumni
Law School Alumni may register for a Courtesy Borrowers card. This privilege is limited to the generally circulating collection at the Law Library only. This card also provides access to library research computers.
