Supplements


  1. Supplement that arrives with a new book:
    1. BISON bibliographic record needs 525 note for supplements (add, if not present). See Notes For Catalogers for examples. Most common form:
      525 : : Kept up to date by supplements.
    2. Call number on spine is set up as:
      [base call number]
      suppl.
      [yr. of publication]
    3. Record base volume and supplement on statistics slip. Softbound supplements are counted.
    4. Send to End Processing with base volume.
  2. First supplement received for a book that is already cataloged:
    1. Add 525 note to BISON bibliographic record to indicate supplement. Most common form:
      525 : : Kept up to date by supplements.
      NOTE: 525 note should be in bibliographic record only if supplement is in hand.
    2. Call number on spine is set up as:
      [base number]
      suppl.
      [yr. of publication]
    3. Record on statistics slip as 1 volume (note: no stat slip needed if already cataloged)
    4. Send to End Processing.
